In 1972, residents of Palmview voted to become a municipal corporation to improve public service delivery in their suburban community.

 

As Interim City Manager, Olivares works with Council members, employees, and residents to restructure municipal operations, to improve transparency, and to ensure accountability for our city.

​

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the daily operations and long-term development of a suburban community of approximately 18,000 which is part of the McAllen-Edinburg-Mission metropolitan area.

  • Supporting more than $73.0 million in infrastructure projects.

  • Helping operate the Rio Grande Valley's only Municipal Development District (MDD).

​Major Accomplishments

  • Fastest growing city:  About 300% increase from 2010-2020.

  • Expanded Fire/Rescue Operations:

    • Fire operations extended to 24/7/365

    • Initiating Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) operations (1 of 4 cities in region).

  • First City Council in region to complete TML Institute training (2022).
